Kenya Records Highest Single-Day Covid-19 Cases Spike

Kenya on Thursday reported its highest single-day increase in Covid-19 infections as 447 new cases were discovered.

There are now 8,975 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country from cumulative tests of 200,311 samples, the Health Ministry said.

The 447 new patients are all Kenyans aged between one and 88 years, with 280 being males while 167 are females.

A bulk of the cases (318) were registered in Nairobi County followed by Kiambu (33), Kajiado (25), Nakuru (23), Machakos (18), Mombasa (14), Uasin-Gishu (7), Busia (3), Laikipia (2), Kericho (1), Makueni (1), Migori, (1), and Turkana (1).

The Ministry of Health also noted that four more patients succumbed to the infection, bringing the total number of fatalities so far to 173.

At the same time, 64 people were discharged from various treatment centers across the country, taking the total recoveries to 2,657.

    It’s interesting the Kenyan government is able to provide such data on the regular, considering it lacks the infrastructure to collect that same data.
