Police in Nakuru have arrested a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier in connection with the murder of his wife.
Kennedy Oloo, an army officer stationed at the Lanet Barracks, was apprehended on Tuesday after it was established that his spouse, Leah Oloo was killed.
An autopsy carried out of the deceased’s body showed she died as a result of suffocation by strangulation contrary to her husband’s claims that she committed suicide.
The examination revealed a bruise on the neck and a groove on the lower neck, indicating an 8mm string or wire was used to smother the 26-year-old.
On Wednesday, Nakuru Resident Magistrate Benjamin Limo allowed police to hold the suspect in custody pending completion of investigations into Leah’s death. He is expected back in court on Monday to face murder charges.
Reports indicate Leah had told her family and friends that she was quitting her three-year marriage before she died. She is said to have sent her sister an SMS and a video recording on June 11th informing her that her husband had locked her up in the house and was unable to leave.
Oloo phoned Leah’s mother later that day to inform her that her daughter had killed herself.
