Two Italian nationals were on Tuesday evening denied entry into Kenya after they exhibited symptoms linked to coronavirus.
The two, Marbeillo Fransisco and Marbiello Maurice arrived at Moi International Airport in Mombasa aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
All the 44 passengers aboard the plane were screened but the two Italians, who were traveling on a tourist Visa, showed Covid-19 signs.
Mombasa County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo said the two were blocked from disembarking from the flight and were flown back to Addis Ababa.
The remaining passengers were allowed to enter the country but were directed to self-quarantine for 14 days.
In a related incident, 13 Chinese nationals and three Tanzanians were also barred from entering the country on Tuesday.
The 16 foreigners were trying to cross into Kenya from Tanzania through the Lunga Lunga border point in Kwale County but they were turned away by immigration officials.
The 16 claimed they were heading to Mombasa for a special assignment at Bamburi Cement Ltd but they were denied entry after officers established the 13 Chinese citizens had not met the required 14-day self-quarantine in the country of origin. The Chinese arrived in Tanzania from China between March 4th and 16th.
