Nairobi Gang Caught on CCTV Breaking into Car, Stealing Sh150,000 After Trailing Owner from Bank

A Nairobi gang was on Thursday captured on CCTV cameras breaking into a car belonging to a man who had just withdrawn cash from a bank in the city.

In a video, the car’s owner, Athanus Muema said he withdrew Sh250,000 from a NIC Bank branch to buy some construction materials in Nairobi’s industrial area.

He proceeded to a business premise located on Enterprise Road and parked his car, unaware that he was being trailed by criminals.

CCTV footage showed a second car coming in and parked next to Muema’s car, just moments after he entered the shop to buy some items.

An occupant of the car comes out and skillfully breaks into Muema’s vehicle from the driver’s side and picks the money he had left behind.

A woman who had earlier been seen following Muema to the shop, probably to monitor him as her accomplices break into his car, quickly emerges and enters the second car before the gang drives away.

A guard at the gate said the suspects told him that they were with Muema, Nairobi News reported.

Muema, who reported the incident at Industrial Area Police Station, said the robbers stole Sh150,000 from the car.
