DP William Ruto Accuses Investigating Agencies of Telling Lies in the War on Corruption

Deputy President William Ruto has accused investigating agencies of political witchhunt in the war against corruption.

Speaking in Mombasa on Saturday, Ruto says the agencies should not predetermine cases and must base the war against graft on facts.

“No amount of repeating a lie will make it the truth. We must leave out propaganda and falsehoods in those we perceive to be our friends or enemies,” says Ruto.

Ruto further insists that the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) should not target ‘certain’ individuals in the war on graft.

Ruto’s remarks come a day after the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji released a statement detailing the progress of a probe into the Arror and Kimwarer dams’ scandal.

In the statement, Haji assured Kenyans that prosecutions would be “devoid of any witch-hunt, political considerations or any other extraneous matter.”

He further revealed that several government officials have been implicated in the alleged fraudulent tendering and payout process for the two multipurpose dams.

While Ruto claims ‘only Sh7 billion’ is yet to be accounted for, the DPP and DCI maintain that the amount in question is Sh21 billion.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich appeared at the DCI headquarters for two days to shed more light into the missing funds.

  1. Ruto, you cannot defend…
Ruto, you cannot defend corruption. It is better you stay mute and let those who have been selected to investigate do their work. You are defending criminals.

  2. …And that’s why I…
…And that’s why I mentioned before both DPP and DCI ought to summon Ruto to record a statement as per his irresponsible speech.

Now today he’s directly attack the DPP and DCI while they’re still investigations. So who’s politicizing the war on corruption?

I’m keenly paying attention on Dam scandal. I openly say even Ruto’s remarks towards Raila attacks in reality do not make sense and does not add up to the questions. This can initially give a tale-tale sign.

  3. All Kenyans of good will…
All Kenyans of good will should rise up against this DP. What bothers him about this investigations…? I mean he’s a suspect number moja. Imagine somebody goes buy a land at Ksh. 1b and sell at 6b and on top 4b kickback…to what extent the person is evil.
