We'll Freeze and Recover Looted Assets in 2019, President Kenyatta Declares

President Kenyatta has sent a warning to graft lords stating that corrupt individuals will not be given a breathing space in 2019.

In his New Year message, President Kenyatta says his administration will institute legal measures to freeze and recover looted public resources.

“In 2019, my administration will enhance the work of the Asset Recovery Agency to ensure that we aggressively seek court orders to freeze and confiscate assets such as bank accounts, vehicles, and real estate,” says Kenyatta during a televised address at State House, Mombasa.

He adds: “Individuals charged with corruption offenses will not be allowed to flaunt their ill-gotten wealth as court proceedings are ongoing.”

Kenyatta notes that frozen and recovered assets will be transferred to the Criminal Asset Recovery Fund and be used to finance key development projects.

He has at the same time, called on all government agencies and Kenyans to assume an active role in the war against corruption.

“To win this war against corruption requires all of us to work together as a people, in appreciation of the fact that corruption is our common enemy. In this respect, I urge every Kenyan to reject bribery and those who try and buy our favor through the use of monies gained from fraud.”

“In the same spirit, all arms of government have to commit to working together against this enemy of development,” notes Kenyatta.

Toothless bulldog that doesn’t bite. Start with your own deputy RUTO. Listen to allegations from your own DCI and HAJJ and MPs. If you can bite please learn to just SHUT the F UP. You time is up for useless declarations and warnings..

Mr. Kenyatta, you dot not beat an elephant with a small stick. You need a police rifle or an AK47 to kill it. Corruption has been an ever expanding elephant for almost half a century beginning from the time of your father. If you want to stem it and choke it to death, you need more than a string. You need more than talk. Let’s see you roll out a plan, set systems in place, set apart a team of incorruptible judges, confiscate the stolen money and property bought with the proceeds, arrest all these thieves and expedite their trials. Kenya cannot do with such thefts as has been realized during your short tenure. You let the hyenas unbridled into the hen house. Now get them out. We are watching. Good luck and Happy New Year.
