Eight Kenyans including a Member of Parliament are among persons who have lost millions of shillings to a scam group that has been claiming to have powers to multiply cash.
The yet to be named MP lost Sh76 million, a car and a parcel of land to the scammers, Citizen TV reports
Police said the conmen, who include three Chad citizens and a Kenyan, have been luring their victims to an apartment located in Nairobi’s Westlands estate ostensibly to have their cash ‘doubled.’
The MP said he sold his vehicle and a piece of land in the Nairobi’s posh Karen estate and took the cash to the fraudsters despite initially losing the Sh76 million. Another Kenyan said he lost Sh14 million.
Police said the scammers would ask their victims to come to the house with huge sums of cash for miracle sessions after which they gave the victims fake currency after surrendering their hard-earned cash.
Many learnt they were being conned when it was too late. Police have urged any other victims of the scammers to report the matter.
The suspects; Abdoulaye Tamba Kouro, his son Abdala Tamba and a Kenyan, Anthony Mangangi Munyiva were arrested on Monday at the house with Sh1 billion in fake currency. The cash was in form of United States dollars and Euros. A fourth suspect managed to escape.
The suspects were arraigned in court on Tuesday even as it was established that the Chad nationals stayed in the country for several years without proper documentation.

I suspect the guy who run…
I suspect the guy who run away is a Nigerian. When the president opened the door for African to come to Kenya without following the due process the outcome is this kind of people. Kenya is now a magnet for all kinds of conmen. The Kenyan intelligent community should know this kind of scams is prevalent in Nigeria yet it failed to warn the President of the risks involved by allowing Africans to come to Kenya unabetted. How many of this fake bills are in the circulation? Probably Kenya Shillings Five billion. And how did they manage to bring all this money in the country and comfortably establish a foreign currency exchange center in Westlands. Most likely that money is printed in Kenya which means they brought in a printing machine in the country and bribed their way up. The printing Machine didn’t come without attention of the port officials which means they were the first people to comprised. The MP who got scammed is not a Saint either. He should be apprehended and charged for money laundering. He is the guy making law yet he is in front line breaking it

To be fair, a drunk is ‘ unwarnable’ even if you bring a joint task force of CIA, MI6 and Mossad

And that dummy,ladies and…
And that dummy, ladies and gentlemen, has no business being an MP. Obviously he’s recklessly spending mali ya uma but this is stupidity not naïveté. Lock him up for being an idiot
@ Ufisadi, thats why he…
@ Ufisadi, thats why he gambled with money that he did not earn, but looted. When you roll your sleeves and sweat out 76 million shillings, you are not going to be duped by thirdrate conmen,or for that matter any conman.
Had to imagine an MP being so greedy to the point of being so stupid. There is no magic to multiply money, other than the proven way by bona-fide investment companies, and to an extend banks. And no amount of prayers would miraculously multiply anything, especially when the intent is “unGodly”.
The crooks arent that smart either. Why keep hanging at the same joint,or should I say the same”con-station” Too risky, and ofcouse their stupidity is a bounty for the cops-not the corrupt ones.
Maxiley,The sad part is he…
Maxiley,The sad part is he’ll be voted in again. The crooks had no reason to fix what wasn’t broken. Why move if you live among idiots? You cast a line where there’s plenty fish, better yet, where the fish is greedy or damn. I’ve seen some places where they spread fermented grain or even busaa in the water, they sit back, watch the fish scramble to eat them the men just scoop me em up in backets. ‘Drunk’ fish is a sure catch and already half spiced no need for efforts
@Ufisadi, after this…
@Ufisadi, after this exposure, for him to be voted in is a travesty of voting. This should be a big club for the opponent to use,but again as I have said elsewhere, the electorate do not cast their vote on principle, but on tribal lines first, then afew shillings coming in close second. But yes you are right, the fool will be back to make up for the loss.
Exactly. Now we can begin to…
Exactly. Now we can begin to understand the kind of dumb leaders we elect. For chrissake how would one sell property then trot over to a “prophet” aka a con to get the money multiplied. Greed, greed and more greed is what caused them to do it and the foreigners know which country a good number of population suffers from something close to developmental delay, stunted brain and instant gratification; a lethal combination. That MP should explain first how he got the money cos that story ain’t adding up one bit.
That stupid MP ought to be…
That stupid MP ought to be driven out of the office right away. That huge amount of money is taxpayers money. If you are that stupid to believe someone is going to double your money you are nothing but a dumb ass. I have no sympathy.
