Raila Junior Urges Gov't to Legalize Use and Sale of Bhang

Raila Junior, the son of opposition leader Raila Odinga has urged the government to legalize the use and sale of bhang.

Junior, who was reacting to the arrest of Njoroge Mbugua on Wednesday for planting the illegal substance on his parcel of land in Limuru, Kiambu County, said there is need for a serious discourse around its legalization.

“Serious discussion has to be held on the legalization and control of cannabis sativa, and entrepreneurs like MR Mbugua in their business and religious conquests #LegalizeIt,” Raila Junior said in a tweet.

Upon questioning by police, Mbugua said he had been planting marijuana since 2016 after a command from ‘god.’

“This is my work alone and it is ‘god’ who instructed me to plant. I went to the heavens and came back because there are a lot of people who use it,” he said.

In August, economist David Ndii also called for legalization of bhang arguing that the government has allowed use of cigarettes which are more dangerous to human health than marijuana.

“I was addicted to cigarettes, struggled a lot to quit. I smoked a lot of pot [bhang] in my youth, never had cravings or withdrawal symptoms. “You’d have to smoke a hell of a lot of pot to get addicted, if at all,” Ndii said.

“Why is marijuana (non-additive medicinal) illegal and cigarettes (addictive carcinogen) legal. Because ordinary people can roll their own joints, but cigarettes are made by big capitalists, that’s why,” he claimed.

  1. Then (in this case) Kenya…
Then (in this case) Kenya should ILLEGALize Cigarettes (the Addictive) and LEGALize Ganja (the Non-Addictive).

  2. Kenya does not have to copy…
Kenya does not have to copy everything. We are only 50 years old. Let us take our own baby steps. Be careful with these Dynasties and their ancient thinking. Let us invest in knowing who we are first, re-writing our history to reflect who we are. Let us be “Whole” before joining in the chorus of others. We do not need bhang in Kenya. We have enough problems to solve including leadership problems (governors and MP’s) to start consuming bangi freely. We are not there yet. God help Kenya!!

    • Kenyans are the worst…
Kenyans are the worst Africans ever on the planet! Wazungu waliwaumiza vibaya!

  3. Mimi sinywi pombe wala…

  4. This Railalite has no clue…
This Railalite has no clue of what he is advocating for. Ati bangi is non addictive? Clearly has not lived. The guy planting it clearly has been having a party with the stuff to an extent he hallucinates having commands from God! This stuff either agrees with one or doesn’t and if not, messes with the brain vibaya sana. Imara…ever heard of cannabis induced psychosis? Look it up!

    • Pombe is bad when missused…
Pombe is bad when missused especially by young people. Cigarettes are bad ,sex is bad with the wrong person for the wrong reason.Fighing is bad…taking something without permission is bad (stealing).Cheating is abad…(usually.
What all these acts have incommon is that they are personal choices with consequences. Why people do these things is what our social scientists should figure out.Once we know why people do make these choices, then we can teach them the alternative. How about that?.Till then let people pay the price of their choices.Like ialways say,if you love yourself you will make choices that are to detriment to your person.

    Nimesema mara…

    Dada @Sukari:

    2. Kunywa pombe, mvinyo, pombe kali, waragi, kinywaji chochote kilicho na “caffeine,” na kadhalika
    3. Kuwa Mfuasi wa Mwana Mariamu, au Mwana Aisha.

Fluffy ideas from rich kids who are out of touch with immeadiate concerns of Kenyans. So now, we need to get distracted with conversations about weed; while the country is sinking in corruption? First things first. Wewe Raila kama umekosa cha kufanya, buy a Bangi zako huko.

By the way? What’s with this boy’s face? Childish stroke or accident?
