Nomination of Miguna Miguna as Nairobi Deputy Governor Challenged in Court

The nomination of self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna as Nairobi Deputy Governor had been challenged in court.

A voter, John Waigi Migwi, wants the court to revoke the nomination on grounds that the nominee doesn’t meet the relevant qualifications for vetting and approval.

He argues that Miguna is a Canadian citizen and is not a member of Jubilee, the party that Governor Mike Sonko was elected through.

“The said nominee is a member of a prescribed group known as National Resistance Movement (NRM) which is an illegal movement that works closely with the main opposition parties in Kenya and spends its time antagonizing the policies of Jubilee party,” the court documents read.

He further asks the court to bar the Nairobi County Assembly from vetting or approving Miguna’s name, pending hearing and determination of the case.

Defending his decision last week, Governor Mike Sonko said he picked the fiery lawyer for the post due to his strong stand against corruption and cartels at City Hall.

“I settled on Miguna Miguna so that he can help me in fighting the cartels. I know that Miguna is the number one ‘anti-cartel’ ,” said Sonko.

“Let Miguna Miguna be allowed back to the country for him to take up this job I’m offering him to fight the cartels.”

Utter nonsense. Barely months ago this man was eligible to run for governor of NRB and now he is not eligible to run for DG position? Oh and the same gova took his passport away forcefully from him and now is pretending Miguna is not a Kenyan citizen? His cucus, gukas are buried in Kenya. His clan is in Kenya!! Again, total nonsense and bad politics in play.

Miguna is a lunatic. He is not fit to hold any public office. Well he can after he is treated his psychotic problems. The government will be setting unpresented course if it allows a declared terrorist to become a deputy governor of Nairobi
