PS Lillian Omollo, NYS Director-General Richard Ndubai Step Down Over Sh9 Billion Scandal

Public Service and Youth Principal Secretary Lillian Mbogo Omollo and National Youth Service Director-General Richard Ndubai have stepped down over the alleged scandal involving billions of shillings at the NYS.

In a statement dispatched to newsrooms on Friday, State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said the President accepted the offer by the two to step aside to allow for investigation into the scam that allegedly saw NYS lose Sh9 billion.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta accepted the offer by the two officers to step aside for a period of three months to allow investigating agencies to complete their work,” State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said.

“The President also expects any public official directly implicated in the investigations to uphold the code of integrity and ethics to which they are committed and to act accordingly,” read the statement.

The two were directly responsible for the functions at the NYS in the period under investigated. The duo has been implicated in the heist where 36 companies are being investigated for corrupt dealings with the outfit.

The cash was allegedly siphoned from NYS since 2015 in a well-planned scheme involving top government officials and ghost suppliers.

“Investigative agencies have over the past few weeks been investigating payments at the National Youth Service (NYS), with a clear intention of ascertaining whether they were made following the correct procedures; whether they were made for services delivered; and whether there was any fraud committed in the processes,” the statement from State House further reads.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) commenced investigations into the scandal late last year and findings have so far revealed a trail of plundering of taxpayers’ money.

We need to get our priorities straight cos even people with multiple degrees from elite schools have NOT helped Kenya one bit.Corruption does drag us ALL down irrespective of class.
