After last month’s unity pact between President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and his Embakasi East counterpart Babu Owino have also buried the hatchet.
In a rare show of unity, the two fiery MPs met, wined and dined at K24 TV’s Ciiku Muiruri birthday party on Friday. The two lawmakers, who have in the past exchanged bitter words over their differences in political alignment, shared images of themselves at Ciiku’s bash on their social media pages.
Shortly after President Uhuru truce with Odinga, Babu said he would seek to meet Kuria so they would bridge their differences.
“Moses Kuria and I will hold a joint press statement very soon. Our supporters are advised to put on helmets and rubber shoes in case we don’t agree. #UhuruRailaTalks,” said Babu in a tweet.
A week earlier, the two traded words on the social media after Babu called Kuria a village leader with jigger infested brains.
“Moses Kuria was a SONU treasurer, a position that was preserved for ladies. I was a SONU chairman for 4terms. I will never argue with a village leader with Jigger infested brains,” Read Babu’s tweet.
“A small boy says that the position of SONU Treasurer is reserved for girls,” Kuria posted in response to Babu.
He went on: “First, the year I was elected SONU Treasurer is the year Babu Owino was born. I am not in any way suggesting that I could be Babu’s mother; but secondly, the last SONU Treasurer before me was a leader of NRM (National Resistance Movement) Miguna Miguna.
