Preparations for President Uhuru’s Swearing-in Ceremony in Top Gear

Preparations for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing-in ceremony are in top gear, following Monday’s Supreme Court decision to uphold his re-election.

Organizers of the event say that more than 100,000 people are expected to attend the ceremony to he held at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi on Tuesday, November 28th.

The Assumption of the Office of the President Committee says that everything will be ready before Tuesday. Speaking to the press outside Kasarani Stadium on Monday, the chairman of sub-committee on protocol and security of the Assumption of Office Committee, Joseph Irungu noted that all things have been put in place to ensure the success of the fete.

“We have already commenced arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony of President Uhuru Kenyatta which is slated for next week Tuesday. Kasarani Stadium remains the suitable venue in which the ceremony will be held.”

“I know that Kasarani Stadium has the capacity to host a maximum of 60,000 visitors but I assure the public that the rest of the 40,000 visitors will be accommodated in certain areas within the precincts which the committee has identified,” said Irungu.

Irungu said the committee, which is chaired by the Secretary to the Cabinet Joseph Kinyua will engage all relevant agencies to make the event a success.

“Today was our first meeting but we will be holding several meetings within the week to ensure that nothing has been left to chance. We wish to assure the public that we have the capacity to manage the security of the guests who will be attending the event, we have no challenge on that,” he said.
