Turkana governor-elect Josphat has vowed to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta administration in the next five years in order to implement projects in his county.
The Council of Governors’ (COG) chairman said he will form a county government that will collaborate with the national government.
Nanok garnered 73,232 votes against his main challenger John Munyes of Jubilee who got 52,572 votes to win a second term in office on Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
“Turkana County Government will work with the government that is legitimately elected,” Nanok said.
He further praised electoral commission, IEBC for delivering a free and fair elections despite challenges.
“After observing how the commission conducted the elections here in Turkana, I can confidently say that I am satisfied the commission did a good job and followed the law in its undertakings,” he said.
Speaking at Turkana University College in Lodwar, Governor Nanok thanked the electorate for overwhelmingly voting for him.
“We fought a tough battle with my competitors in a quest to provide the right leadership to take our county forward,” a Jubilant Nanok said.
Nanok’s pledge to work with President Uhuru is likely to be seen as a betrayal to his party leader Raila Odinga, who have rejected the presidential election outcome saying the poll was massively rigged to the advantage of President Uhuru.
