ODM Blocks Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro from Contesting Ruaraka Parliamentary Seat

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has blocked nominated senator Elizabeth Ongoro from contesting at next month’s ODM primary election for the Ruaraka parliamentary seat.

Ongoro, who is ODM’s assistant secretary general, was reportedly blocked from challenging incumbent MP Tom Kajwang’ following violence between her supporters and those of Kajwang, which resulted in the death of two people.

ODM’s Central Management Committee (CMC), which is chaired by Raila Odinga, struck Ongoro’s name off the list of ODM aspirants for the seat, instead giving Ongoro the option of vying for Nairobi County Women’s Representative. That seat is currently occupied by Jubilee’s Rachel Shebesh.

ODM claims they want free and fair elections, how can they say this and yet deny this lady to vie for the senatorial seat that she wants?.
