It is with deep sadness and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Irungu Karangu of Baltimore, Maryland which occurred on 08/01/21 at the University of Maryland Hospital.
Irungu was the son of the late Dr. Mwangi Karangu and Pastor Anna Karangu of Baltimore, Maryland and stepson to Ms. Isabella Mwangi of Atlanta, Georgia. Irungu was brother to Dr. Caroline Waiyaki and James Karangu of Baltimore, Maryland, David Karangu of Atlanta, Georgia, the late Elizabeth Gakere of Kenya and late Kimani Karangu of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his grandmother – Marietta Wachera Gitahi, several cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.

I have lost a friend. Irungu always remembered to bring me a gift at Christmas and Mother’s day.
His wisdom was exemplary, even at a tender age. He smiled whenever I called him “Muthuuri wa Kangema”.
The love and warmth you exuded will be remembered and dearly cherished. You were indeed a gift and a blessing to all who knew you.

This is a sad story to hear, I knew this young gentleman when I was a student at Morgan University but after that I never saw him again. He was such kind of a great soul to many even to those who met him for the first time. May his soul rest in eternal peace………

I have always admired Irungu for being such a brave young man. My husband and I will miss him dearly,but all is not lost for he has gone to glory, and we will see him one day.
