Winnie Odinga: I Haven’t Found a Confident Kenyan Man to Marry Me

East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Winnie Odinga says she is single for the first time in nine years and is looking for a potential suitor.  

In a recent interview with a local publication, Winnie noted that she is yet to find a “confident man” to marry her as those she has met before “chickened out”.

“I am single after nine years and enjoying life but I am still looking for a Kenyan man especially. I don’t mind other cultures but we all want someone who understands you and most of the time that someone is from your culture,” the 33-year-old said.

She added: “I haven’t found that confident Kenyan man yet. Those I have met start by saying they are confident, then our conversations turn into politics and when baba [Raila Odinga] calls they get shocked and chicken out.”

Winnie, who is the last-born daughter of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga, admitted that she has been under pressure from her mother Ida in the past few years to get married.

"My mother started (the marriage talk) a couple of years ago but I told her to cool down on that talk…I am young. I'm having fun. I'm in my 30s living life...There is a lot of science these days I can have a child when I am 80," she added.

She noted that the confidence she has was instilled by her father, whom she described as her best friend. 

“A woman’s confidence comes from her father. My dad and I are boys. He is very understanding and takes time to understand me,” she said.

It's difficult to recognize one's own use by date. I suspect hers has come and gone but she's unaware. I remember in my youth a young lady who played games with men, yours truly included. The men moved on All these years later she's still alone. She may not need a man but I doubt she planned on always being alone. As for Miss Odinga I would suggest investing in cats. The wealthy and the successful will always go for eye candy and she just isn't.

Men marry for looks.It's the same a biological imperative that women are attracted to men of power and wealth(money) who can provide and protect.My advice,don't get married! There is no need to. Inherit your dad's golden handshake$ wealth and live your own life.Stop complaining about men and be happy with your freedom. If you want a kid, have a kid. Plenty of women in much harder circumstances have kids without being married. But if you think getting married to a confident man means happiness for life...just ask those divorce lawyers from your home county!

Hypergamy is the preferred way to go.Yes.However @Nathan Njau, it's a little more complicated than that. I happen to known athing or two in that department.Of course,Iam not they only' GURU'...
See it makes evolutionary sense for a woman to go for a man with resourse,especially if he can be generous with them.This esures greater probability of the kids surviving. And here is the kicker. She is actually attracted to aman who could provide good genes(good children) So she will mate with the ALPHA male,and have the resourceful husband provide food,and shelter;Cuckolding.
It is more and more getting traction that only about 20% of men are attractive to women.This is more obvious in the western world. The main reason being that women no longer need a man's resource since they can generate their own.This explains why there is a high rate of divorce in the western world.Not the only reaon of course.Man providing resources is no longer enough.Is there any wonder that 80% divorces are initiated by women?
However,marriage is not for everybody.And for those who still want to get hitched, using the old model of man being the boss of the house,be prepared for divorce shortly there after...We need anew model that approaches some semblance of equality.Yes,I iknow this is tough to swallow for an african man. Anyway, the bottom line is to take time and find a partner you can get along with while it lasts..A partiner with similar values.
And yes men go for looks first.Again its not just the merely the esthetics.It is the youthfulness. Biology has programmed men to know unconsciously that young women are more likely to bear children than older women.That's what is going on when a man sees abeautiful young woman and wants to mount her.In turn the beauty 'checks' him out to see what kind of house,car,and work he does.Does he have resources.
And as we all know,nothing in nature is 'linear'.Which means that despite all these matchups of hypergamy,and youth,most human beings will mate without problems of finding a mate.We are about 10 billion persons in the world,that's atestament to my last statement.
