Maina Kageni: My Mum Gave US Televangelist Benny Hinn Sh500,000 Tithe

Media personality Maina Kageni has recounted how her mother gave Sh500,000 to a US preacher as tithe.

Kageni made the revelation during a discussion on his breakfast show on Classic I05 about the Shakahola massacre in which 89 people have been confirmed dead after apparently fasting to death on instructions of controversial Pastor Paul Nthenge Mackenzie.

The radio host said his mother gave the money to US-based televangelist Benny Hinn but turned down his request for Sh40,000.

“My mum gave half a million to US preacher Bennie Hinn as tithe. Yet I asked her to give me Sh40,000 and she told me she did not have cash,” said Maina

Hinn attracted thousands of masses when he visited Kenya in 2002, promising to cure people suffering from various ailments including HIV.

It is alleged that four Kenyans, including two young children, died at a crusade while they waited for miracle cures from the visiting evangelist. 10 others were allegedly injured after falling from trees they had climbed to get a view of the preacher.

My ex wife ( thank God she's now history) repeatedly shared her paycheck with the preachers but would never contribute to our household bills. Living with her was a nightmare , the divorce was a godsend and I have nothing but pity for the unfortunate people who have to share their lives with such.

Who said their were kids involved? And, does that change the fact that she was lost in a sea of lies?? The Ex is putting it as it was! I congratulate him for having the courage to help others who could be in similar situation!

To my way of thinking. When the church is in fact a business and its officials are fabulously wealthy it flies in the face of Jesus being humble and poor. He's just like any other wolf. The Scriptures warn us about these "pastors".Nowadays they don't even wear USheep'$ clothing anymore. It's happening so often in the village where diaspora parents are being inundated with seedy request by these wolves.Unbelievable that our families actually put their faith into the charlatans who rob them blind. The greedy pastors who would pull a gold tooth out of a dying worshipper for their 'church'.

To my way of thinking. When the church is in fact a business and its officials are fabulously wealthy it flies in the face of Jesus being humble and poor. He's just like any other wolf. The Scriptures warn us about them....."And you shall know them by their fruit." Matthew 7:16 Nowadays they don't even wear sheep's clothing anymore. It's happening so often in the village where diaspora parents are being inundated with seedy request by these wolves.Unbelievable that our families actually put their faith into the charlatans who rob them blind. These prophets of profit would pull a gold tooth out of a dying worshipper for their 'church'.I just don't understand how gullible diaspora can also be so blind and still naively go to those "Kenya-American churches" and give their money to such bishops within the community.

How can “mrs Kirubi” talk about “her” real mother in public? There is no difference between some greedy pastors and all so-called Kenyan politicians who are thieves plus elite conmen, kina expired Kirubi,Githaka etc. They are all gangsters.

Pastors from hell. God is not mocked. Soon, all will pay a price. You cannot feed and ride on poor ignorant women and men and call yourself blessed. You should rightly call yourself a thief. Mackenzie is a good example. Unless his fellow thieves and murderers let him loose, he will burn in the corridors of Kamiti. But you never know what his comrade Ruto will do.

I have always gotten in trouble with my friends when I tell them that there are 3 major addictions that keep Kenya from becoming a developed country:-
1. Corruption
2. Alcoholism
3. Religiosity
