SHA Shortlists 12 Candidates for CEO Position, Interviews Set for April

The Social Health Authority (SHA) is in the final stages of selecting a permanent Chief Executive Officer, with interviews scheduled for April 7 and 8 at the SHA headquarters.

This follows a rigorous application process launched on February 27, 2025, and concluding on March 20, 2025, which yielded 92 applications. The SHA has shortlisted 12 candidates, including former Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi and current acting CEO Robert Ingasira, to fill the crucial leadership role. Other hopefuls include Kennedy Akello, Roberts Abok, Serem Edward, Wario Tore, Agrippina Fernendes, Abdullahi Abdirahman, Musa Lwegado, Samson Kairang'a, Dinah Kirwa, and Kandie Ng'ochoch.

The selection process was initiated after the suspension of former CEO Elijah Wachira late last year. Robert Ingasira stepped in as interim head and has managed the organization while the SHA sought a permanent replacement. Applicants have been instructed to arrive 30 minutes prior to their interview time with required documentation, including original identification, academic and professional certifications, and clearances from the Kenya Revenue Authority and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, among other national bodies.

"Applicants should report to the venue 30 minutes before the scheduled time," reads the notice issued by SHA CEO Abdi Mohamed.

Candidates holding foreign degrees must also provide recognition from the Commission for University Education. As part of its commitment to transparency, the SHA has invited public input regarding the shortlisted candidates. Any adverse information can be submitted to the Chairperson of the Social Health Authority Board through official channels by April 4, 2025.
The Social Health Authority was established following the enactment of the Social Health Insurance Act in late 2023 and began operations in October 2024, succeeding the National Health Insurance Fund.

"Members of the public are invited to avail any adverse information relating to any of the shortlisted applicants to the Chairperson, Social Health Authority Board, SHA Building, 10th Floor, Nairobi, or through email to recruitment@sha.go.ke so as to be received on or before 4th April 2025 at 5.00pm," it states.

The SHA is a state corporation mandated to oversee public health insurance and ensure affordable healthcare for all Kenyans. The appointment of a permanent CEO is considered pivotal to the SHA's mission of transforming healthcare accessibility and delivery across the nation.
