CS Muturi: 'Fire Me if Speaking Truth about Abductions is Wrong'

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has asserted he will not resign from his position despite his outspoken criticism of the government's handling of abductions and extrajudicial killings.
This declaration comes as the Democratic Party of Kenya (DP), with which Muturi has long been associated, formally withdraws from the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Muturi, in a recent interview on Citizen TV, dismissed calls for his resignation as an act of cowardice, stating, "I am staying put and will continue speaking out when necessary."
He emphasizes his active participation in the campaigns that led to the current administration and deems stepping down as morally wrong. Adding weight to his concerns, Muturi reveals that his own son was abducted in June of last year, urging President Ruto to expedite investigations into extrajudicial killings. He implores the President to launch an open inquiry into the matter, stressing the importance of safeguarding the youth as the future of the nation.
In a parallel development, the DP's exit from the Kenya Kwanza Alliance was confirmed. Muturi, while acknowledging that he was not directly informed of the decision, respected the party's autonomy in the matter. He references his resignation from his position within the party following his appointment as Attorney General, citing Article 777 Clause 2.
The DP formally notified the Registrar of Political Parties, Anne Nderitu, of its intention to leave the coalition on Wednesday, issuing a mandatory 30-day notice. The party's Secretary General conveyed that their continued membership in the Kenya Kwanza Coalition had become "no longer tenable due to the prevailing political developments."
Furthermore, Muturi has been absent from recent cabinet meetings, a decision he attributes to his desire to have the issue of extrajudicial killings and abductions addressed by the cabinet. He confirms he sought to be excused until the matter is addressed. The unfolding situation, marked by Muturi's unwavering stance and the DP's departure, underscores growing tensions within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
