There was a scare during the commissioning of the new Lamu Port after an intruder tried to charge towards President Kenyatta.
The incident, which was captured on live TV, happened as Kenyatta was giving his speech at the function.
The president was startled and briefly paused his speech, with his security detail moving swiftly to fend off the intruder.
“Pole sana kila mtu ana mambo yake,” Kenyatta said upon resuming his speech.

Kenyatta was speaking moments after presiding over the operationalization of the first berth of the new seaport.
He witnessed the docking of the first two ships at the harbor, which is part of the Sh2.5 trillion Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport Corridor (LAPSSET) project launched in 2012.
When complete, the Sh310 billion port will have 32 berths, making it the largest deep-water port in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Kenyatta said the port is strategically located at the convergence of major shipping routes, adding that it will position Kenya’s economy on the continent and globally.
