Oburu Odinga, Raila’s elder brother says the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader would not hesitate to walk out of his handshake with President Kenyatta should he give up on the fight against corruption.
Oburu, who is an MP at the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA), says Odinga is fully behind Kenyatta’s renewed fight against graft.
He, however, states that the Opposition leader would cancel his unity pact with the President if he relents in the war on corruption.
“My brother Raila has put vigor in the fight against corruption because President Uhuru is committed.”
“But in case he gets distracted by suspects to the extent of backing down, Raila would simply walk out of the Handshake,” says Oburu as quoted by the People Daily.
Oburu further says Kenyatta must step up the corruption purge by ensuring that high-profile individuals implicated in graft are arrested and prosecuted.
President Kenyatta has insisted that no one, regardless of the positions they hold or how close they are to him, will be spared in the crackdown on corruption.
“If you are corrupt we will fight you. You can be my brother or my sister or my closest political ally but if you are corrupt we will fight you. I won’t be clouded by ethnicity or status in my quest to leave behind a united nation and I will continue championing for Kenya’s unity,” Kenyatta said recently.
Kenyatta and Odinga pledged to work together following the historic March 9th, 2018 handshake.

@Mkenya halisi, you’re right…
@Mkenya halisi, you’re right on the money again. Handshake was never the cure for corruption in Kenya and this was obvious to all who know the true naked Raila. A conniving,scheming,cunning, sneaky-conman who knows how and when to save face. Raila needed an escape plan when the entire world held in contempt his stupid swearing in as unlawful and reckless. His fanatical followers were about tired of burning schools and vehicles, mass protests beating up innocent people with no end game. His planned crowning moment was being thrown into prison so he could cry out persecution and martyrdom. When UK declined to have him arrested, he still needed UK to safe his face-hence the handshake. If handshake was about fighting corruption, show me one big thieving fish in jail or in prison today. Where is Kindero, Ojaamong, cabinet secretary Muthoni, Philomena Mwilu and countless judges, lawyers, prosecutors, procurement goons and many more famous thieves? Until Kenyans wake-up and realize that corruption means our money is stolen and wasted by our leaders and civil servants, there will be no end to theft of public funds-corruption! Raila’s bro, is just giving us the signal that Raila as about to go off. Mt. Kenya people aren’t warming up to him as quickly as he had imagined and Ururu seems to have tethered him- just taming him rather than opening doors of future power as he expected. Uhuru has also failed to”kill” Ruto quickly- at the speed Raila wants. So, Our stray man Raila will launch another party, collect another group of fools that he can use to con Kenyans once again and in the process have a few more properties destroy, and sadly, have a few more people killed. God bless this land of Kenya!
