National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga says that foreign countries have threatened him with sanctions over his controversial swearing in ceremony set for January 30th.
Speaking in Homa Bay County on Saturday during the Nyanza region People’s Assembly forum, Odinga said he is not afraid of the sanctions, stating that he does not have to travel out of the country.
The opposition leader said he is ready to pay any price in his pursuit for electoral justice.
“I have received a flurry of calls and was told that I risk being a rebel, I was also told that I will be banned from travelling abroad. I told them that I do not have to travel outside Kenya. We will ensure that the August 8th results are respected,” he said.
He continued: “The era of military coups is over. When the incumbency captures the institutions of governance including the Legislature making it subordinate to the Executive, when it intimidates the Judiciary into submission and captures the electoral commission and controls the instruments of power including the military and the police it only means that any election becomes a ritual which the incumbency must win.”
On his part, Wiper leader and Nasa co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka maintained that the time for dialogue is over and warned that the opposition and Jubilee might have to talk when the country is in crisis.
“I said that Uhuru must dialogue with Raila but nobody listened, it is now impossible to hold any discussion between now and Tuesday,” Kalonzo said while comparing the Kenyan situation with that of South Sudan and Somalia.
National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi faulted President Kenyatta’s decision to form the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) position in every Ministry, stating that it is illegal and unconstitutional.
“We cannot tolerate the president’s impunity for four more years. He has created the position of Assistant Minister which is a contravention of the law,” said Mbadi.
For once, I agree with you…
For once, I agree with you Raila. Why should you care? You have lived your life after all and every year is a bunus. Who cares about your children or grandchildren’s future when you, the center of the universe is hell bent in creating a storm? What is a travel ban compared to the loss of your son (hell, life went on regardless!), your daughter’s illness (done your job, she is now on her own) or indeed your ever suffering wife (she knew what she was getting into when she married you!). These foreign countries ought to do their homework before imposing such minuscule threats. Yawa!!

Kicks of a dying horse. …
Kicks of a dying horse. Kwani you’ve started the cycle again? The other day I heard you wanted to help Ruto win 2022 while supporting Kalonzo for the same…. Je running your gova in exile????? You even can’t keep track of what you want or what you said earlier…sad!
Indeed kicks of a dying horse.
Now that President Uhuru…
Now that President Uhuru and his DP Ruto have so far taken a wait and see attitude, all we can do is wait to see whether they have moral strength and spine to swiftly take appropriate actions if Raila and his fellow sore losers go ahead with the said swearing in next Tuesday, January 30. We, peace loving people of this Republic, are anxiously waiting to see whether our government will take swift and severe actions, including the following, if or when the treasonous swearing takes place:
1) Immediately arrest and detain without bail Raila and his doomsday co-principals while doing everything possible to avoid bloodshed of innocent fools who whorship this murderous devil in disguise as their king.
2) Immediately arrest and detain without bail Orengo, Mbandi, Juniet, Wanga, and all other crazies who signed the purported affidavit declaring Raila as people’s president.
3) Immediately arrest and detain without bail Ndii, Miguna, and all other misguided demagogues who planned and executed this treasonous act in total disregard and defiance of the constitution.
4) The Speakers of the National Assembly and the Senate to immediately declare parliamentary seats of all those brainless MPs and Senators who signed the affidavit giving their allegiance to Raila in total contravention of the oath that they took to uphold and defend the constitution of the Republic of Kenya — one president duly elected by the people exercising their sovereignty and free will.
5) Immediately end the charade and hooliganism paraded in Nasa stronghold counties as people’s assemblies. These are nothing but make feel good illegal gatherings of misguided fools and idle hooligans with nothing to do but complain how successive governments have neglected them.
Yes, we have only a few days to see if Raila and his gang of criminals will threaten peace and stability in our country; and most importantly, if President Uhuru and his DP have moral fiber to switly take the above 5 measures along with other severely stringent actions to stop these treasonous sore losers once and for all. Our peaceful country can’t afford any longer to allow one evil minded old man crazy for power by hook or crook to destroy our beautiful country while the government of the day stands by helplessly like a toothless tiger. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! With or without travel bans, this loony devil worshipper won’t be traveling anywhere if he decides to go ahead with this insanely treasonous swearing in …. he will be either 6 feet under or locked for life in Kamiti. He has finally managed to destroy himself and those foolish enough to follow him blindly.
@Njai, glad to see I am not…
@Njai, glad to see I am not the only one thinking this way, sometimes I fear I am overstepping my analysis when there is no feedback from you comrades. On the same subject, I feel the mood of the country has darkened and believe there is a coup brewing in the background. Just check out Raila’s recent body language. It is charged with nervous energy as he talks of what he will do. He is swaying more than usual as if he has some sort of neurological disorder. Like I said elsewhere, I believe a COUP is brewing. This mad man did it before and with the demented support he has, quite capable of attempting again. I am now beginning to loath Uhuru’s silence. I said before the elections: Ukimruhusu mtoto akutawale, nyumba yako itateketea. Watch as this happens. I simply do not understand Uhuru’s logic for now. No dialogue I support, lakini apply the rule of law to ensure lawfulness in the country! I stand to be corrected and not shy to eat my own words when proved wrong, so please someone, tell me this time I am off key!! I don’t want to see bloodshed any more.
@Sukari, I think fake Joshua…
@Sukari, I think fake Joshua will postpone it. To my guess on the eve of 29th most of these thugs leading this shit-show will be on house arrest. Police will show up in their home and they will not be able t get out.
@ Sukari, I believe it will…
@ Sukari, I believe it will be easier and more effective to apply the full force of the law, once the law is broken. Threatening to break the law is not the same as actually doing so. What if they (NASA), pull back at the 11th hour? Think of a hard count by a quarterbacks in American Football, to try and get the opponent offside. That could be their strategy. Perhaps.
But in case it is not, UHURUTO promised to remain faithful to the Constitution, so they have every right to act ruthlessly against Raila and other law breakers, once they embark on breaking the law next Tuesday with their illegal swearing in. Not any minute before.
I do get that Raila’s antics do get people nervous; which they shouldn’t, though it is difficult not to do so with all the drumbeats and media hype. When I talk to folks in Jamu they tell me hiyo ni upuz tu. People don’t realize how much of a coward he (RAO) is though. Without being egged on by his crafty lieutenants, RAO would have caved in long ago and retired in Bondocks.
We’ve all got a stake in the country, so anyone threatening chaos in our country threatens each and every one of us. Do you think people will sit back and watch all they have sweated for be destroyed by some irrational, deceitful, two faced senile power hungry individual? I don’t think so. When push comes to shove, we shall act to fend off any threats to our freedom and security. That’s how I see it.
There you got it @Maraga. …
There you got it @Maraga. Am glad Uhuru doesn’t respond to tantrum-throwing babies, until, and only until, the line has been crossed. Ignore the tantrums and the attention-seeker is frustrated to hell. I can only judge Uhuru based on his actions once RAO crosses the line; for now I am whistling and relaxed to know there is an able government in place.
For Uhuruto, this is test of…
For Uhuruto, this is test of times to protect Kenyans and the constitution you swore to defend. You swore to defend the constitution from enemies within and without. By protecting the nation from the enemy within, the enemy outside can do Kenya no harm. With the instruments of power bestowed to you; you got to speak softly (as you have done in relation to this swearing in phantom) but carry a big stick-on these matters you know than majority of us do.
Thank you MaragaA,Sukari,Hon…
Thank you MaragaA,Sukari,Hon Kenjuu for your excellent and intelligent insight. Keep up the good work. The Republic of Kenya is much bigger than one mere person who is bent or burning it to the ground. He should be stopped by all means necessary.
MaragA, your analysis is…
MaragA, your analysis is rationale and makes sense re: Uhuru’s strategy. I admit, Raila has taken us to levels akin to a nightmare. I detest him with ever fiber of my body, and that is an understatement. It has nothing to do with tribe but his values as a human being.
@Sukari, your concerns about…
@Sukari, your concerns about another Raia led coup are well founded considering what has been going on in Nasa strongholds especially the nonsensical formation of illegal and unconstitutional People’s Assemblies. The People’s Assemblies envisioned in the constitution are the National Assembly and County Assemblies elected by the People. However, though these ridiculous assemblies are uncostitutional, the Constitution gives people the right of assembly. So, I concur with @ Maraga that the President is waiting for Raila and his Nasa co-principal and NRM criminals like Orengo, Miguna and Ndii to commit treason by going through this ill-conceived swearing in before these clowns are all rounded up and put where they belong. I also tend to agree with Gov Mutua as reported elsewhere in this forum the main motivation for Raila and his fellow sore losers is to create chaos in the hope of getting another mediated nusu mkate government. In part this is the main reason why the president has adamantly refused to dialogue with Raila and his gang of losers hoping to gain power on the blood of their innocent but totally misguided dumb fools who throw themselves into fire without thinking of dire consequences. In conclusion, my take is that Presiden Uhuru and DP Ruto are prudently justified in ignoring this clown circus and in taking a wait and see attitude till these dumb power hungry commit treason. But, if the swearing in of the head clowns goes on as claimed and if the Jubilee government fails to act very swiftly and severely, then in my opinion the president must be impeached and removed from office for gross negligence of his prime duty ….. to defend the Constitution against foreign and domestic enemies. @Godhavemercy, thanks for your appreciation.
Thanks Hon Kenjuu. You guys…
Thanks Hon Kenjuu. You guys are clearly well versed with the constitution. Reading your reassurances eases those fears. We have parents and elderly relatives back home, hence, for them I get rattled easily sometimes. It makes me uncomfortable too to hear myself admit I detest another human being, but this man and his followers provokes feelings I have never experienced before. He has simply gone too far!
