Kenya Airways Suspends Flights to the UK Until Further Notice

Kenya Airways (KQ) will suspend passenger flights to the United Kingdom effective April 9th until further notice.

In a statement on Monday, the national carrier said the move follows the government’s decision to ban all flights from the UK starting April 9th.

KQ indicated that it has added two new flights on April 7th and 8th due to “increased demand for travel to the UK before the advisory takes effect on April 9th.”

“Customers impacted by this directive may change their booking for later travel or request a refund with all penalties waived. All tickets must be utilized before 31st March, 2022,” KQ stated.

Kenya banned flights from the UK in retaliation for the British government’s decision to add Kenya to its travel “red list” over COVID-19 fears.

Starting April 9th, travelers from Kenya and those who transited through the country in the past 10 days will be refused entry into England.

The cancelation of flights between Kenya and the UK is a major blow to Kenya Airways, which recently reported its worst-ever loss of Sh36.2 billion attributed to COVID-19 disruptions.

  1. Hi its not just UK alone…
Hi its not just UK alone include Tanzania South Africa and those countries in the red list. That’s how you win the Covid 19 battle not piecemeal restrictions. Did we have funds set aside for disaster since independence. What can we show for our national reserves especially food , water, shelter and security. We should have underground stores of merchandise to last years. Non perishable…but all governments from independence to now just eating kitu kidogo …sic corruption widespread

  3. It’s better if the useless…
It’s better if the useless airline ceased operations altogether instead taxpayers bailing it out all the time because of corruption. There are some guys led by King’ang’i who believe KQ is their way home and are proud of it.I feel sorry to these educated fools for their believe that funds bailing out KQ as is the ones looted by Uhuru & Co. gangsters belong to the government.
